Course Description

Take a close look! Hear their stories! Join North Carolina Museum of Art docent Rhonda Wilkerson, PhD, as she takes participants on an artistic journey! Rhonda will guide a close review of the ancient gods and goddesses in works of art. She will examine and unlock the details and will tell their stories.  The course will be an informative and engaging discussion that will broaden your artistic experience. Come join in the fun!

Course Outline

Rhonda Wilkerson is a storyteller and educator, with a Ph.D. from UNC-Chapel Hill. She taught as a Clinical Associate Professor in UNC’s School of Education for more than 30 years, conducting innumerable presentations and workshops for teachers, administrators, museum educators and curators, and has presented at numerous museums across the country. She has also found the time to be a North Carolina Museum of Art docent for many years, where her knowledge and very accessible and lively teaching have been highly valued. She is an enthusiastic collector of African Art and has taught African Art courses for OLLI at Duke.

Notes

This course takes place in-person at the Friday Conference Center and consists of one session, Tuesday, May 9, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. The fee is $25.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation must be received in writing at least one week before the start of classes. Participants will be issued a refund, less a $10 administrative fee. Contact Student Services, at stuserv@unc.edu for more information.

Participant substitutions are welcome. If you cannot attend, please contact Student Services with the name of the individual who will take your place.
