UNC-Chapel Hill's Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) is administered through Digital and Lifelong Learning.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is accredited with distinction as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

UNC Lineberger Cancer Network Professional Education

We partner with the UNC Lineberger Cancer Network to offer FREE continuing education credits (CME, NCPD/CNE, ACPE, ASRT, and CTR) for healthcare professionals throughout North Carolina. All webinars feature UNC faculty and other oncology professionals to deliver webinars on the latest treatments, clinical trials, and supportive services available to North Carolina cancer patients.

Other Programming Coming Soon

We anticipate announcing more CNE offerings later this year. Until then, contact your local NC AHEC for information about current continuing education opportunities.

FAQs and Policies

Registration & Payment Policy

Registration is completed online. Your seat will not be held until payment is received.

The registration deadline is 7 a.m. the day of the conference.

Payment online is accepted via Visa or Mastercard. If you need to make alternate arrangements, please contact us at cne@unc.edu

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made in advance, via email to cne@unc.edu. Cancellations received more than one week before the program start date will result in a 75% refund.

Cancellations made within one week of the program will not be refunded, but you may transfer your registration to another person whom you designate to attend in your place. Transferred registration requests must be sent to cne@unc.edu at least 24 hours prior to the program start date, and must include the designee's name and email address.

Group registration

To register and pay for multiple learners at once, please contact cne@unc.edu. There are no group discounts or refunds for group registrations. However, if one learner can no longer attend their conference, you may substitute a different learner in their place.

Requirements for Completion

Participants must attend the entire conference and complete the online evaluation to receive credit for successful completion.

CME Credit Policy

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

For physicians who need CME credit, please note that we are NOT an accredited provider of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. The AMA allows physicians to self-designate non-AMA-accredited educational activities for AMA PRA Category 2 Credit. These credits may not be certified by an organization, and our educational activities may not be advertised as eligible for these credits. However, individual physicians may evaluate for themselves whether participation in a learning activity meets the AMA’s requirements for AMA PRA Category 2 Credit. These requirements include that a learning activity: comply with AMA’s definition of CME, comply with AMA ethical opinions, are not promotional, and that “a physician finds to be a worthwhile learning experience related to his/her practice.”  Continuing Nursing Education will provide you with a certificate of attendance you may use for your records if you choose to self-designate our course for AMA PRA Category 2 Credit.

Adverse Weather Policy

In the event of adverse weather a Center for Lifelong Learning program will be cancelled if the University of North Carolina or the conference venue is closed. If the program is cancelled due to inclement weather, every attempt will be made to reschedule and your registration fee will be applied to the rescheduled date. Any travel expenses that may have been incurred cannot be refunded.

Because it is unusual for the University of North Carolina or conference venues in this area to be closed, it is more likely that an event will be held at times when the University’s adverse weather status is designated as a Condition 1 (“normal” weather conditions). However for both Condition II (bad weather) and Condition III (more severe weather) we would need to cancel a conference. Please see a description of these levels at http://hr.unc.edu/for-faculty-staff/adverse-weather/. The Adverse Weather and Emergency Phone Line is 919-843-1234. Any Adverse weather alerts may also be found on the UNC homepage.

If the event is held, but weather conditions prohibit your safe travel so you are unable to attend, we unfortunately cannot refund your registration fee. Please contact us so that we may send you a copy of any handouts and so that we may notify you should we be able to have any video recordings made of presentations (pending presenter consent and access to facility equipment).

Please check radio and television station’s websites or radios in the area for an announcement about University or venue closures.

Meals

Generally, lunch is included for full day conference sessions. Please check the brochure of the conference you are attending as it will be indicated if lunch is provided.

Conference Attire

We encourage you to wear comfortable clothing with layers. Everyone tolerates temperatures differently, so please bring a sweater or jacket in case you find the conference room cool.

Disclosures

In accordance with the ANCC accreditation standards, everyone involved in the planning or presenting this educational activity will be required to disclose any relevant financial relationships, or the lack thereof, with commercial interests in the healthcare industry, and this information will be made available to participants at the start of the activity. Participants will be informed of any commercial support related to the educational activity, and they will be informed that accredited status does not imply endorsement by the provider or ANCC of any commercial products displayed in conjunction with an activity. In addition, speakers who incorporate information about off-label or investigational use of drugs or devices will be asked to disclose that information.

Wait List Policy

If the program is full, our registration management system automatically implements a wait list. You do not have to pay a deposit to join the waitlist; you pay upon registration if a seat becomes available.

Parking

Our in-person programs are held at the Friday Conference Center. You can view information about Friday Conference Center directions and parking online.

You will need a parking permit to park in the visitors lot. We will send you a link to the parking permit that you can print out before the conference.
